Following the successful edition of “The Sixth Artist” from North Sea Round Town 2025, the new edition, titled “The 7th Artist,” continues the same theme, aiming to explore the voice of Brienenoord Island. On a quest to honour and highlight the “more than human” artist that makes the island so special, we set out to map its sounds, plants, and materials, in order to craft instruments and improvise music inspired by our surroundings. The elements of the island will sound through soil and river clay, knotweed reeds, nettle strings, tree trunks, branches, and voices weaving with the tides. In this process, the audience will also become part of the island sound identity in a series of interactive pieces.
