In deze praktische workshop brengen we onze eigen personages tot leven via de schoonheid van papieren poppen. Papieren poppenspel kent een lange en interessante geschiedenis, variërend van schaduwtheater tot vroege animatie. Met deze geschiedenis als uitgangspunt gaan we aan de slag om beweegbare tweedimensionale poppen te maken met eenvoudige scharnierverbindingen, voor minitheaters of stop-motionfilms. De sessies zijn speels en experimenteel, dus er is geen ervaring vereist! Iedereen is welkom, ongeacht de leeftijd, en het materiaal wordt verstrekt.

Alina Nastachenko is een mixed-media- en stop-motionkunstenaar met een voorliefde voor magisch realisme, volksverhalen, theater en thema’s rond het gevoel ergens bij te horen. In haar werk brengt ze personages en verhalen tot leven door middel van een speelse mix van digitale media, poppen, geknipt en gescheurd papier, ruwe texturen, levendige kleuren, licht en schaduw.

In this hands-on workshop, we will bring our own characters to life through the beauty of paper puppets. Paper puppetry has a long and interesting history, ranging from shadow theatres to early animation. Learning from this history, we will go on to create moveable 2-Dimensional puppets with simple articulated joints, for mini theatres or stop motion films. The sessions will be playful and experimental, so no prior experience is required! All ages are welcome and materials will be provided.

Alina Nastachenko is a mixed media and stop motion artist who loves magical realism, folktales, theatre, and themes of belonging. Her process involves bringing characters and stories to life through a playful mix of digital mediums, puppets, cutting and tearing paper, rough textures, vibrant colours, lights, and shadows.
