Samen zingen in een koor heeft iets bijzonders. Het bevordert een gevoel van saamhorigheid, geeft plezier en heeft allerlei gezondheidsvoordelen. Zo vermindert het bijvoorbeeld stress, maakt het blij, verbetert zingen in een koor de ademhaling en vergroot het je levensverwachting!

 Buitenkoor herfst/winter editie

Het koor oefent bij Buitenplaats Brienenoord: opeen Rotterdams eiland in de natuur.  We gebruiken die omgevingen laten ons inspireren door de geluiden en het landschap van het eiland. Naast repertoire uit verschillende stijlen zullen we ook circle songs zingen (dat is eigenlijk loops maken maar dan met mensen) en improvisaties. Daar hoef je nog geen ervaring mee te hebben. 

 We zullen in dit seizoen meer gebruik maken van de fijne binnenruimte van de Buitenplaats. Wanneer het weer het toelaat gaan we ook naar buiten. Daar luisteren we naar de geluiden van het eiland en integreren deze in onze circle songs en improvisaties. Met verzamelde geluiden en frisse neus zullen we weer binnen opwarmen.

 Inzet koorleden

Het koor is open voor alle leeftijden, niveaus en stemmen, en tegelijk zetten we hoog in. Om voor continuïteit en kwaliteit te zorgen vragen we koorleden zich voor te bereiden. Dat betekent ook thuis de melodieën in je hoofd krijgen door te oefenen met behulp van de audio opname of via notenschrift. Aan het einde van de 6 sessies geven we een presentatie op het eiland. Hoe we deze precies vormgeven bepalen we samen.

De voertaal is Nederlands, maar niet-Nederlands sprekenden zijn welkom! Vereist is wel dat Engels kan worden gesproken of een meezingende vertaler meekomt naar het koor.

 Over Ishtar:

Ishtar is vocalist, performer en componist bij diverse muziek(theater)projecten. Ze richt zich in haar werk veel op de connectie tussen mens en natuur. Dit thema komt ook terug in het eilandkoor. Ishtar heeft ruime ervaring koorleiding en met het geven van zang en muziekworkshops. Ze is o.a. docent bij Artez conservatorium in Arnhem waar ze zang en koor geeft op de muziektheater afdeling. Als trainee heeft ze bij Nederlands Kamerkoor (NKK NXT) gezongen en als alumna bijeen project van Nederlands Kamerkoor. Ze heeft de master Indiase zang en jazzcompositie bij Codarts afgerond en heeft haar muziekstudio bij Batavierhuis(Rotterdam).

Twijfel je nog? 

Je kan naar de eerste les (6 november) komen als proefles. Deze kan je afzonderlijk afrekenen (€12,-). Als je kiest om verder te gaan kan je de volgende les het resterende lesgeld betalen.

Singing together in a choir has something special. It promotes a sense of togetherness, brings joy, and offers various health benefits. For example, it reduces stress, makes you happy, improves breathing, and even increases your life expectancy!

OutdoorChoir

The Island Choir practices at the Buitenplaats of Brienenoord: on an island in Rotterdam’s nature. We use this environment and let ourselves be inspired by the Island’s sounds and landscape. In addition to our repertoire, we will sing circle songs (which is like creating loops, but with people) and improvisations. No prior experience is needed for these.

The unique location of the Island Choir's rehearsals offers the chance to immerse yourself in nature, gather sounds, and apply them musically, as well as to sing outdoors.

The Buitenplaats also has a comfortable indoor space. When weather allows we will also sing outdoors. After gathering sounds outside and breathing the fresh air we return to the warmth. Buitenplaats Brienenoord is easily accessible by bike or a 15-minute walk from the Feyenoord stadium tram stop (tram 3). If you come by car, parking is available further away (not on the island itself).

Commitment of choir members
The choir is open to all ages, levels, and voices, and at the same time, we aim high. To ensure continuity and quality, we ask choir members to prepare. This means practicing the melodies at home by using the audio recording and/or sheet music. At the end of the 6 sessions, we will give a performance on the island. We will decide together how to shape this presentation.

The primary language is Dutch, but non-Dutch speakers are welcome! However, it is required that participants can speak English, or that they bring a singing translator with them to the choir.

About Ishtar:

Ishtar Bakhtali is a vocalist, performer and composer in several music(theatre) projects. Ishtar has experience leading singing and music workshops, as well as choirs. She teaches singing and choir at Artez Music Theatre in Arnhem. She has sung as a trainee with the Netherlands Chamber Choir (NKK NXT) and as an alumna in a project with the same choir. Ishtar holds a master’s degree in Indian singing and jazzcomposition from Codarts, and her current projects focus heavily on the connection between humans and nature. This theme is reflected in the Island Choir.

For those unsure: You can treat the first session as a trial class and pay for it separately (€12,- ).  If it’s not for you, after the first session, you can leave it at that. If you decide to continue, you can pay the remaining sum at the bar at the second session via card, and you’ll become a member of the amazing Island Choir!
