Many of us are more or less aware of the omnipresence of data and data practices in our lives—and of the powerful digital systems that present themselves as neutral, objective, and simply “how things are.” But data practices both feed and are fed by the discriminatory realities of our societies. Powerful regimes require powerful, yet oblique, approaches in order to be revealed, questioned, mocked, subverted—and ultimately, reimagined. And that’s where Data Divas come in. Over the course of 10 weeks, starting in October, the Training Programme will unfold through a series of Friday sessions. These sessions will revolve around communal bedazzling, playful input moments, and the exploration of potential Data Diva gestural repertoires—all with the aim of cultivating alternative ways of relating to data and its regimes.

Warmly (and hopefully glamorously) * Antye aka (baby) DATA DIVA

Antye Guenther, aka (baby) DATA DIVA, is a glitter-loving knowledge-inventor and unreliable narrator, born in a country that no longer exists. Rumoured to have been a former child test subject in Soviet brain experiments, she now joyfully interrogates the conditions and fictionalities of Western knowledge and data regimes. With a warm fondness for troublemaking, she mischievously crosses disciplinary boundaries, often while crafting cheap-ass rhinestone jewellery as part of an ongoing collaborative glitter-as-(communal)-care-practice.
