Botanical Expedition for the Peripheries of Future is een speurtocht op het Eiland van Brienenoord. Zes sculpturale plantensoorten, voorgesteld als evoluerend onder druk van het Antropoceen, zijn verborgen op het eiland. Bezoekers navigeren met een geïllustreerde kaart die dient als kunstwerk en veldgids. De sculpturen combineren keramiek, hars en algenbio-garen, ontworpen om op natuurlijke wijze te verweren. Dit project verschuift de rol van de bezoeker naar actieve ontdekker. Door het zoeken wordt de bestaande ecologie van het eiland zichtbaarder. Het is een reis van ontdekking en herstel.

Vanda Vlašič (2000) is een onderzoeker en multidisciplinair kunstenaar. Haar praktijk opent portalen naar parallelle werelden via sciencefiction en persoonlijke mythologie. Met sculptuur, gevonden voorwerpen en tekst neemt ze toeschouwers mee op reis naar speculatieve toekomstscenario's. Momenteel focust ze op botanische herverbeeldingen die de desintegratie van de natuur aankaarten, waarbij ze gedeelde ruimtes en spel inzet om gemeenschappen dichter bij elkaar te brengen.

Botanical Expedition for the Peripheries of Future is a site-specific treasure hunt on the Eiland van Brienenoord. Six sculptural plant species, imagined as evolving under the pressures of the Anthropocene, are hidden across the island. Visitors navigate using an illustrated map guide. The sculptures combine stoneware, resin, and algae yarn, designed to weather naturally alongside the landscape. This project shifts the visitor’s role from passive spectator to active explorer, using the act of searching as a form of attention that makes the island's existing ecology more visible. It is a journey of discovery and recuperation.

Vanda Vlašič (2000) is a researcher and multidisciplinary artist. Her practice opens portals to parallel worlds through science fiction and personal mythology. Focusing on sculpture, she uses combinations of found objects, drawings, and text to lead viewers on journeys to speculative futures. Currently, she focuses on botanical re-imaginations that address the disintegration of the natural world, using shared spaces and play to bring communities together.
